2018 MLK Day – Sponsorship Letter

2018 MLK Day – Sponsorship Letter

Dear Potential Sponsor,

As chairman of the Grand Strand’s 12th Annual 2018 “Building Stronger Communities” event, I am offering you an exciting sponsorship opportunity that will result in both civic and promotional benefits for your business or organization. Our celebration of a true American and human rights hero, Dr. King, has a simple goal – to bring us all together to make a difference in keeping our area a welcoming and mutually supportive community for all people to live in and visit.

We are celebrating the 55 years since the famous March on Washington when Dr. King gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech that changed the landscape of our national civil rights movement forever.  In addition, the 2018 Celebration of his words and work will include a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his untimely death on April 4, 1968.

The Grand Strand’s 12th Annual 2018 “Building Stronger Communities” event hosts activities centered and focused on introducing and reinforcing the personal and public values preached by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his vision of a united, colorblind society.

I am requesting your consideration to provide a financial sponsorship for this event and ask that you save the dates January 19 through 23, 2018 and April 4, 2018, to attend the festivities and the memorial.

Among the activities for the 2018 Celebration rally:

  • An opening Welcome Mixer and Reception
  • The annual “Carolina Has Talent” show including a contest for young performers
  • An innovative Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Three Major Workshops
    1. A participatory program “Translating Diversity into Economic and Social Value”
    2. An Employability Job Fair bringing together job seekers and potential employers
    3. A Workshop for small businesses seeking contract and financial procurement opportunities
  • The MLK Film Festival running continuously for three days at the site of the Celebration
  • An increasingly popular, professionally supervised 5K Freedom Run
  • A Parade featuring 500 Horry County Public School band members, floats, and local personalities
  • Civil Rights Sunday – including an ecumenical worship service in collaboration with local churches and faith-based organizations
  • The annual Corporate and Community “Drum Major” Awards Breakfast featuring a nationally known civil rights dignitary
  • A memorial observance of the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s death on April 4, 2018

Also, the January segment of the 2018 Celebration and Memorial will provide an exhibit area for sponsors at the main venue where they may set up small informational exhibits, meet and greet attendees, distribute materials, and offer affiliation with their respective organizations.

Attendance for last year’s January event was record-breaking and I encourage you to join our cause early to receive the maximum benefit for your donation.  Enclosed is a Corporate Sponsorship Package for your review.

Your support will be much appreciated.
